Carolina Tar Heels Undergo Subtle Rebranding

GoHeels.com

Carolina blue will be a bit more consistent from now on. UNC-Chapel Hill announced Monday night it's making some subtle changes to the Tar Heel brand.

The use of Carolina blue goes all the way back to 1795, according to the university. That's when the dialectic debating society chose that signature North-Carolina-sky shade of blue as its representative color.

Don't worry, the rebranding won't change that color. It'll just make it more consistent across all UNC-Chapel Hill varsity teams. The university partnered with Nike to make the shade, logos, letters and numbers uniform - pun intended - across sports

One of the most noticeable changes will be the expansion of argyle. That overlapping diamond pattern has been a staple of Carolina basketball jerseys since 1991. Soon, you'll see it on other Carolina sports jerseys, too.
